A small primitive Japanese ‘Chabudai’ short legged folding table, the table top retains is original red lacquered finish with black lines running across it, this is a well known traditional symbol of Japan, the design of the Rising Sun symbolizes an energy as powerful as the rising sun along with the concept of Japan – The Land of the Rising Sun.

Traditionally, a Chabudai was used for various purposes, such as study tables, work benches, or tea tables, they are designed for sitting on the floor and typically being foldable for easy storage.

This early 20th Century example, circa 1920, is well aged with a lovely patina to the top.  A very decorative vibrant authentic piece.  The overall condition is very good, and the folding legs are all in good working condition.  The table top has some wear and loss to the lacquer but is completely original.
